Application of the Ilizarov fixator for distraction arthroplasty. The overall appearance demonstrated successful application of the Ilizarov fixator. Distraction with motion was performed by use of distraction rods with hinges. Patients were allowed to walk with partial weight-bearing for at least 3 months, followed by the Ilizarov fixator being removed
