From: Diagnosis of periprosthetic infection following total hip arthroplasty – evaluation of the diagnostic values of pre- and intraoperative parameters and the associated strategy to preoperatively select patients with a high probability of joint infection

▪ Preoperative Tests

- Plain radiography

- Haematological screening tests (level of c-reactive protein (>0,5 mg/dl), white blood-cell count (> 12/nl))

- Aspiration

▪ Intraoperative Tests

- Histopathological Evaluation

- Intraoperative Cultures

  1. At least three of these tests had to be positive whereas either positive histopathological evaluation or positive intraoperative cultures had to be included.
