The foraminal cross-sectional area (FSCA) in the middle area of nerve foramen in T2-weighted MRI sagittal position was measured. The foramen width (FW) was the distance between the intervertebral disc in the middle region of the nerve foramen and the narrowest point of the posterior ligamentum flavum measured by T2-weighted MRI in sagittal position of the lumbar vertebra. A and C are the width of intervertebral foramen before and after operation, and B and D are the area of intervertebral foramen before and after operation
