WORMS regions. The femur and tibia are divided into anterior (A), central (C), and posterior (P) regions in the sagittal plane. Both bones are further divided into medial (M) and lateral (L) regions in the coronal plane. Region S refers to the intercondylar eminence of the tibia. The abbreviations for the WORMS regions in the figure include the portion and bone name. For example, MFC refers to the medial femoral central region. MFTJ refers to the medial femorotibial joint, which includes five regions (MFC, MFP, MTA, MTC, and MTP)
