The CRP levels were determined in the blood samples of 52 patients of hip and knee arthroplasty routinely pre- and post-operative. a–c In the pre-operative phase, there was a correlation between CRP levels and the BMI. However, this effect was just observed in females, but not for males. This effect was lost directly after surgery due to the massive increase of CRP level per se (d–f)
