Effect of simvastatin on the cytotoxicity following ischemia–reperfusion injury. Cytotoxicity of OGD was assessed with LDH release. Cells were subjected to 60 min of OGD and 24 h of recovery time. LDH significantly increased after OGD compared to healthy cells. Simvastatin treatment (0.1, 1, and 10 μM) effectively attenuated LDH release. Values are represented as means ± SEM; asterisk denotes significant difference from control. Number sign denotes significant difference from the OGD cells (n = 16; p < 0.05).
