FGF-2 and BMP-2, the yin and yang of mineralization: Contrast of effect of 24 hours of treatment with FGF-2 or BMP-2 on fold increase in abundance of mineralization-related gene expression. Mineralizing MC3T3-E1 cells were prepared as described in Materials and Methods. They were then treated with either FGF-2 or BMP-2 for 24 hours at which time RNA was collected and analyzed for relative abundance using qRTPCR.
