Human PBMC/lymphocyte proliferation responses to various concentrations of soluble metal challenge are indicated. Only Nickel indicated significant increases (p < 0.05, t-test) at concentrations of 0.5 and 10 mM. The ranking of the most toxic/inhibitory metals was determined by the lowest concentration of metal required to produce a >50% decrease in the proliferation rate when compared to controls (i.e. <0.5 Proliferation Index).
